From the Marbles Nascar Blog on Yahoo! Sports &bull Mar 11, 2010
We're only four races into the season, with more than 20 to go before the Chase even arrives. There's a lot of time for change, both positive and negative. Even so, with at least 18 guys good enough to make… Full Story »

Smack: Final thoughts on Edwards vs. Keselowski (NASCAR.com)
Nascar News on Yahoo! Sports &bull Mar 11, 2010
Joe Menzer: Yes. There are logical reasons-well, logical for NASCAR-why he wasn't suspended. But I believe Keselowski was correct in stating after the race that Carl should have received at least a one-race suspension. I wrote that in a post-race column and still feel that way. Mark Aumann: This was a litmus test of where NASCAR sees itself and where it wants to be in the realm of big-time sports, and whether its "have at it, boys" mandate was hypocritical. So I'm not surprised. I am disappointed, though. Mark Aumann: Maybe NASCAR doesn't think so, but I think it really… Full Story »

Making the Chase a matter of simple formula to follow (NASCAR.com)
Nascar News on Yahoo! Sports &bull Mar 9, 2010
Dustin Long of Landmark Newspapers wrote an interesting piece earlier this season where crew chief Brian Pattie suggested that an average finish of 14th was good enough to make the Chase. Building New Cars Has Brought New Kind Of Success For Dale Earnhardt Jr.
bleacherreport.com via @KellyCrandall &bull Mar 8, 2010With the way that the 2009 season went for Dale Earnhardt Jr. and company there was absolutely no way that 2010 could be any worse. Suffering what was statistically his worse season in Sprint Cup Series racing, the No. 88 team was revamped coming into 2010. A mid-season crew chief, shop and personnel changes were all on the menu in order to have the sports most popular driver run like his three teammates who had finished one-two-three in points last year. Team owner Rick Hendrick repeatedly said that Earnhardt Jr.' Earnhardt Jr. qualified second for the Daytona 500 and had… Full Story »

To worship or not to worship the 48 (Yahoo! Sports)
Nascar News on Yahoo! Sports &bull Mar 2, 2010
Your piece on Chad Knaus, I will (begrudgingly) agree was spot-on. Knaus has in the past been "caught with his hand in the cookie jar" to put it nicely. That's how Darian Grubb got to be Smoke's Crew Chief, is the way I read it. Jay let me hopefully be the first of many to confess I am guilty. Kyle Busch never met Dale Earnhardt. He saw him once, when he was around 16 years old, from roughly 50 feet away. Kenseth's struggles must look familiar to Earnhardt (NASCAR.com)
Nascar News on Yahoo! Sports &bull Feb 24, 2010
Regardless of their performance on the race track or the disparity between their backgrounds and popularity, they have always seemed intrinsically linked. Matt Kenseth and Dale Earnhardt Jr. entered NASCAR's premier series together, at the forefront of the heralded 2000 rookie class, and on the heels of a pair of championship showdowns on the then-Busch circuit. Since then their fortunes have always invited comparison, even if their careers have ventured along divergent paths. Such is the case with two drivers who share a common starting point. Recently, though, they have appeared on opposite ends of the competitive spectrum. Kenseth… Full Story »
